The Gift Of A Goat
Goat meat in Nepal can bring as much as $10 a kilo. There are some pastors and workers in the country with as many as 30 and 40 goats. Their income is self-producing, their children go to school, and they are able to generate funds for others. In our project, we have a three year blessing gift built in. Each pastor will have to donate ONE female goat to another worker within the three year period. We believe this is a great way to have continual blessings. Goats come in two types, local and hybrid. A female hybrid will cost $145 to $155. They produce stronger offspring. Females will come from good stock and will be able to give birth several times a year. Goat farming is a profitable business with a low investment because of its multi-functional uses like meat and milk. Besides, they will eat all kinds of agri-food and leave some manure to boost garden growth. The local variety of female goats are $90 to $110. In our project we will be looking for the best goats available. Now Ken and Diana are not goat farmers, but we’ve worked at this enough to know a doe (female goat) can bear 1—4 kids (baby goats) a year. Twins occur the most often and five is rare. But after a couple of years, a family can have as many as twelve goats. (populations can double each year). Think what can happen in five years!!!!!
