The Gift Of Water
More than 840,000 are estimated to die each year from diarrhea as a result of unsafe drinking-water, sanitation, and hand hygiene. The deaths of 360,000 children under the age of five could be avoided each year if these risk factors were addressed. The simple behavior of handwashing with soap can save lives, cutting diarrhea by almost one-half and acute respiratory infections by nearly one-quarter. On average, globally, women and children spend 200 million hours every day collecting water, often water that’s already contaminated. In Nepal, only 27 percent of the population has access to basic sanitation, those without access rely on local surface water sources like rivers for bathing and washing clothes. At the same time, the establishments for water treatment facilities throughout the urban and rural regions are limited. As a result, Nepal faces a high number of water-borne diseases such as diarrhea, dysentery, typhoid, gastroenteritis, and cholera. We are doing something about it! Please help…
Unlike other organizations that will ask partners for $1000 to $1500 to help dig a well in Nepal, we don’t pad our project price. We tell you the truth! Just $150 – $250 can construct a well up to 120 ft deep in the Nepali Terai. Isn’t this the kind of information you’d expect from the charity you support.
Any gift you can give! Currently, a 90 ft shallow water well can be dug for $235.$35, $50, $75, $100 or more helps get it done.
